If you're interested in the finer points, read on for the construction detail (if you're not - email me and I'll do the boring bits!)
MATERIALS
Cores: All Fork Tree Skis have bamboo cores as it has a great flex to weight ratio, is durable and very strong, as well having green credentials. That said, I'm happy to use another core material if you have something in mind.
Fibreglass: I have experimented with different types to find something that's lightweight yet gives the results I need.
Carbon fibre: This adds stiffness without weight, and gives the ski a lively pop.
Edges: Specialist steel ski product hardened to Rockwell 48 and bent by my own hands.
Resin: I use a slow-curing, super-durable ski epoxy, which is strong yet flexible to resist cracking
Tips and tails: Again these are a specialist ski-making product, made of ABS plastic, which protects the core and save weight.
Bases: As standard I use a black or your own graphics sublimated on 4000 grade sintered p-tex base material for a incredible glide, durability and wax absorption.
Vibration damping: Rubber strips are added above the edges and sometimes in other places to reduce vibration.
Top sheets: Crisp and durable to protect and show off your designed graphics. Graphics are heat transferred onto the UHMWE ultra high molecular weight polyurethane, for the best quality. |
